WANT TO KNOW MORE? CHECK OUT OUR MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED AXE THROWING QUESTIONS

Don’t see the answer you were looking for?

No sweat, just give us a call at 702.333.4513 and we’ll answer as many questions you can throw at us. Or you can contact us here.

Is there an age limit?

We don’t have a specific age limit but we recommend that younger throwers be around 10-11 years old to make sure they have what it takes to stick an axe to the target. Any throwers under the age of 18 will be required to have a parent or guardian with them who is legally able to sign their liability release. Age restrictions may also be in place during peak times and nights.

Do I need an axe throwing reservation? What if I just want to walk in?

Reservations are highly recommended to guarantee a lane for your group. Reservations can easily be secured through our real-time, online scheduling calendar here. However, similar to a bowling alley, walk-ins are always welcome during our standard open hours as long as there is a throwing lane available. Wait times will vary depending on the day and time so make sure to check our online schedule to see if reservations are available. Don’t forget that special events and private parties are available 7 days a week and we’ll work with you on your timing needs. Contact Us for more information.

What if I need to cancel my axe throwing reservation?

We know things come up and life happens. We ask that you give us a 48 hours notice for cancellations and after that we’re always happy to help you reschedule to another available day or time. We can also issue a gift certificate in the amount of your reservation for convenient use at a later date as well. No refund or gift card will be issued if you no show/no call for your reservation.

When is Dueling Axes – Las Vegas open?

We’re open 7 days a week for 1-2 hour small group reservations, walk-ins and large group reservations or full facility buy outs.  (Sunday – Thursday Noon – 12am, Friday – Saturday Noon – 2am). A wider time range for large group events can be found in our scheduling calendar. Don’t see a time that fits what you want? Give us a call and we’ll be happy to try and fit your group in – we’re confident that we can make just about any time or day work with at least 48 hours notice. You can also check our private event schedule here.

How do I make a reservation for axe throwing?

Click here to view our real-time online reservation tool. Use the calendar function to choose how many throwers you’ll have, how long you want your reservation to be, a date and time. Our system will walk you through the whole process.

Do you have private axe throwing lanes or a VIP range?

You betcha! In general all of our lanes are private. That means Dueling Axes – Las Vegas will never pair you up with strangers or people you didn’t show up with. We also have a VIP room that can accommodate up to 25 throwers. This VIP room will have direct access to the full-service bar, it’s own dedicated server and 4 throwing lanes in its own private area. Find more details on our axe throwing specials page.

How far in advance do I need a reservation?

Dueling Axes is first come first serve so if there is a day and time you really want, we recommend scheduling several weeks in advance. Weekends are pretty busy and fill up fast, so keep that in mind when planning your night out. You can occasionally find an open slot on the same day but we recommend booking a reservation at least a couple days in advance or more if you have a large group.

Do you have Axe Throwing Leagues?

Yes! Check out League information here.

Is there a wait list?

Cancellations are uncommon so if the time you’re looking for isn’t available on the website then you’ll most likely have to pick another. There will be a few walk-ins only lanes and wait times will vary depending on day/time of the week. Feel free to drop in or give us a call and try to get lucky but we can’t make any promises.

What if we’re late for our reservation?

We run a tight ship and there will probably be a group scheduled for your lane when your reservation is over. Try not to be late or your time in the lane could get cut short. We ask that all guests arrive at least 15 minutes before their reservation for a quick safety talk and coaching session.

Can I bring more people than we reserved ahead of time?

Additional group members can pay on site but we generally recommend no more than 6 people per lane. With more than 6 on a lane, you may not get to throw as much as you’d like and a lane next to you to spread out may not be available. That being said, the more the merrier! Just try to plan ahead.

Can I rent the whole place?

Absolutely! We would love to host your group outing, team-building event, or fundraiser. Visit the Groups page for more information. Call or email us for available reservation times, package pricing, and any special requests your group may have and our event coordinator will make sure your party goes off without a hitch.

Can we bring our own drinks, beer or otherwise?

Unfortunately no. Dueling Axes – Las Vegas does have a full service bar onsite that will also carry items such as hard seltzer, water, and soft drinks.  Safety is our single most important priority so if we decide that you’re too intoxicated to throw safely, you will not be allowed to throw, no exceptions.

What about food?

What could be better than pizza, beer, and throwing axes? We’re not sure either! Dueling Axes – Las Vegas will not have its own kitchen, but your group is welcome to bring any food available within AREA15. You can buy it ahead of time and bring it in with you, or you can order it while you’re throwing and have it delivered (additional delivery fees may be incurred). Also, make sure to bring plenty of napkins to clean and dry your hands before it’s your turn to throw – we won’t have any of that to offer you. There are also several restaurants within AREA15 and you can make arrangements in advance for catering.

Do you provide plates, utensils and napkins?

Unfortunately no, if you thought of bringing food then we’re betting you thought of how to dish it out. We will have trash cans and recycling bins for when you’re done.

Outside catering?

Go big or go home! Cater a full meal for your private event or bring some grub from one of the AREA15 restaurants for your small group. Just remember, timing is everything. Make sure your food gets here before it’s too late.

Is Axe Throwing safe? Has anyone ever been hurt?

Fair question. We pride ourselves on our safety practices and your safety is our number one priority. Each throwing lane is completely enclosed in floor to ceiling fencing and only one axe is allowed per lane. Before your reservation starts, our staff will go over all of the safety procedures during a brief training session to make sure everyone is on the same page. No sport is completely free from risk but axe throwing in our venue is closely monitored to keep everyone safe, even from yourself! We’re proud to say we’ve never had an injury.

Will someone train us?

Yes! Every group goes through a short training and safety session in which you’ll learn how to properly throw an axe and do it safely. Training usually takes 10-15 minutes or less and your reservation time starts only after everyone is coached up and ready to throw.

Is Axe Throwing hard?

Throwing an axe and having it stick to the target consistently can take a little practice. However, the vast majority of our guests stick the target after only a handful of practice throws during training and many find that it’s not any more difficult than other throwing sports. The technique for throwing is pretty straightforward and our friendly staff will be there to give you pointers to make sure you have the best possible chance for bragging rights.

What should I wear when I go Axe Throwing?

We require all throwers to wear closed toed shoes and we discourage high heels. We’re not the fashion police but do want to keep your toes safe in the unlikely event of a dropped axe and also make sure that our female guests don’t twist any ankles while throwing. Aside from that, wear whatever you’re comfortable in.

Can I bring my own axe?

We do not allow any outside axes to be thrown in our facility. We provide all the equipment you’ll need to participate. The one exception to this is if you throw in one of our leagues. On league nights only, participating members will be allowed to bring in a WATL approved axes to throw.

What if I’m Pregnant?

We only hold a PHD in axe throwing so we suggest asking your doctor if this would be appropriate. Common sense is a good rule of thumb here.

How do I throw an axe?

We thought you’d never ask. Check out our How To Throw An Axe video to see how it’s done.

Do you have a minimum group size?

Dueling Axes – Las Vegas has no minimum group size and our goal is for your group to always have your own private throwing lane. With a group of 3 or less, we reserve the option to pair you up with another small group (kind of like a golf tee time), but we’ll only do this if we absolutely must and will never make combined groups larger than 6 throwers. Don’t be nervous if there are only a couple of you, pairing up groups is very rare outside of our busiest nights and even then, you’re going to have a great time making new friends!

Maximum Group Size?

The Dueling Axes – Las Vegas location will have a maximum capacity of 216 people at a time. So feel free to round up 215 of your closest friends to get a reservation scheduled. As long as lanes are available we’ll accommodate your party. In addition to that, for say, larger corporate outings, we will allow the 216 capacity be rotating, so people can come in and out. Regardless of how many people are in your group, we recommend no more than 6 people per lane so no one has to wait too long between turns. If you book a reservation for more than 6, our reservation software will automatically place you on side-by-side lanes. .

What are the rules of Axe Throwing?

You’ll learn all of the safety procedures and scoring rules for our many game play options during the brief training session before you throw. We’ll also have a tablet at each throwing lane with the gameplay options and digital scoring.

Absolutely – we want to bring the sport of axe throwing to everyone who has the itch.
